hrs/orctf press release

doesn't take too long for these guys to finalize an agreement does it?
may 96 to august 97???...and they're working together the whole time (?).

suppose there's still that 50/50 revenue split?

gotta like this stuff:

"...vdsl modems at $500 per line..." : modestly down from 5k (deutsche telem article)
"...mass production of chipsets..."
"...already have advance commitments from vendors who intend to use our chipset..."
and it has a name: "HC6100"

after the 14 july deutsche telecom communications week article, thought we might have had a "harris" sighting, but apparently not...
the reference to 26 mbps symetric caught my eye...
only remembered vdsl as 52 downstream and no more than 2 mbps upstream. checked the orckit website and the orckit product literature: same is referenced. contacted orckit and was directed to the '96 annual report p. 10 and sure enough: "26 mbps symetrically" on a orspeed I vdsl modem. in correspondence, orckit added "the symetric feature of the orspeed ....was developed at a customer's request..." and "is a fairly recent feature.."

26 mbps symetrically: boggles the mind...(now how fast does that pc have to be? just to keep up...)
