Howard, regarding Infineon, do you remember the old Multi-Media Card days? Infineon had the right to produce royalty-free MMC ROM which they called "ROS" cards which was short for "recorded on silicon". SanDisk had the rights to manufacture flash MMC with read-write-rewrite function. The reason I ask is because I have not seen others using Saifun technology other than Tower. In a prior conference call regarding the purchase of Tower shares I remember Eli mentioning something about the issues regarding cell structure and failure rates with repeated read-write cycles. Maybe they have worked this out in the mean time. The link you posted indicated that Infineon was using a flash ROM technique developed by Saifun (I believe Eli was answering a question on about the plan to use embedded flash in controllers using standard CMOS techniques that would allow programmability. The cell failure rates were an issue at that time...circa 2000.) Aus
