It takes vast courage, to plan and carry out a suicide operation. It takes vast courage, to carry out guerrilla war against an enemy with vastly superior logistics, communication, and weaponry. We have tanks, helicopter gunships, stealth aircraft. They have RPGs and improvised explosive devices. Think about how much courage it takes to strap on an explosive belt, walk into a restaurant, and set it off. Think about how much courage it takes, to stand underneath a helicopter gunship, and fire an RPG at it, knowing the enemy can quickly bring to bear an overwhelming firepower in response. Knowing that their chance of killing their enemy, is far smaller than the U.S. Army's chance of killing them.
There are a few comparable situations, where soldiers from America and Britain have shown as much courage as our enemies display today. Just a few, and none from recent history.
The soldiers at Valley Forge, who had been repeatedly beaten by the Redcoats, and before France entered the war on our side, they showed equivalent courage.
The aircraft crews in WW2, who knew they were unlikely to live, because the casualty rates were so high, they showed equivalent courage.
When our President calls our enemies cowards (and when you echo him), he (and you) do this for a reason. The reason is, your self-image requires you to think of yourself as a civilized person, who acts in a civilized manner. You cannot admit that you are just a clever chimpanzee, patrolling your territory and killing Others. You cannot admit that you kill (or, rather, that you champion killing, support killing, pay others to kill for you, and gain vicarious pleasure from it) simply because it is programmed in your genes and hormones and the wiring of your brain.
So, you have a dilemma. You cannot help being a chimp, but you can't admit it. The solution is simple: pretend those you kill are not human. Pretend that, although your enemy walks on two legs, and has a brain and opposable thumbs, he is really a demon, an animal, a thing. Pretend he has no redeeming human qualities. You must cling to this pretense, at all costs, no matter what facts must be ignored. This is the only way you can think of yourself as human, while supporting your tribe's inhuman activities. Your tribe, today and in the recent past, has set up concentration camps, slaughtered thousands of POWs, tortured and murdered prisoners under interrogation, carried out wars of aggression. Classic chimp territoriality behavior. Dispute any of these crimes, and I can re-post the facts to back it up, in great detail, with links.
You and your tribe show not the slightest bit of remorse. Just as a male chimpanzee shows no remorse, after he has caught another tribe's female and child on his territory, killed her and eaten her child. The chimp probably thinks of his victims as "collateral damage" or "terrorist sympathizers" or "illegal combatants" or "cowardly Islamist terrorist bastards". All synonyms for "Other, who deserves unlimited and endless violence at my hands".
In an era without nuclear weapons, such behavior is merely evil. It is merely the opposite of the core teachings of all religions and moral systems. In an era with nuclear weapons, such behavior is not just evil, but suicidal. Those who live by the sword, will die by the sword. |
