re: tobacco and a new generation of hustlers:
Interesting. At some point, a large enough sales tax is the functional equivalent of Prohibition. Prohibition has a consistent track record: it doesn't work. No matter what the drug, when or where or the details of the Prohibition, all it does is fill the jails, provide profits for organized crime, and add to violence on the streets. It never decreases drug use.
My kids, at school and home, are getting a consistent and effective propaganda indoctrination (or, if you prefer the PC term, I'll call it "education"). Ask them about tobacco, and they'll tell you the smoke contains methane, which is also the main ingredient in cow farts. This is more effective propaganda than telling them about lung cancer (which doesn't impress them, because, like all children, they consider themselves immortal). |
