interesting, I didn't know that.
My entire exposure to this property tax issue came a few years ago when my startup company wanted to lease and build up some land in cupertino. We were surprised to find that Tandem, a company that was no longer in existance, owned *all* the land in the area! There was this LP set up which was managed under HP's legal dept. Obviously Tandem, once a large firm in Cupertino bought up all the land and never let go. Most of it was undeveloped when they bought it but has buildings on it now.
