Brushwud, RE: "My daughter still believes in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, and I don't think such an individual is ready to lead economic policy."
She's probably at a very creative phase of her life so why not give her a venue to share this with the world.
By the way, I see no reason why she couldn't have her hand in economic policy at an early age. I had my hand in my brother's economic policy papers when I was a tiny child - jam and all.
Unrelated to you, the biggest thing wrong with this country is the fact our education system turns out followers, rather than leaders.
An Entrepreneurship Course should be mandatory in first grade through high school.
The biggest mistake a parent and school system can do, is to incorrectly assume their child cannot lead at an early age.
RE: "Was he any good? Did you make an offer?"
I'm sure he was good, as most VCs tend to be, but we decided not to interview any of the VCs from the various VC firms that applied, because the position required hands-on operational skills and unfortunately none of them had that important aspects of the requirement. Otherwise, I would have loved them all - VCs are seriously a very smart group of people.
RE: "As a group, entrepreneurs are among the most robust individuals in society, generally lacking fear of failure and needing neither encouragement nor support from others."
How many entrepreneurs do you know? I can think of many, including those that have taken their companies public, those that are currently designated as the fastest growing companies, that need encouragement and support. It's a strong supportive network.
RE: "What most of them want from the government is for it to maintain infrastructure, including education, with reasonable tax rates and stay out of the way."
Well said. Definitely need a boost in education and infrastructure.
