Why do I get the feeling that you spent the Cold War poo-pooing the Soviet threat too? Our enemy has a political ideology every bit as real as Communism was. It's called Islamism. It has its major ideologues - Khomenei, Qutb, and its adherents. Al Qaeda is the umbrella organization for one of its militant wings. Hizbullah is another. You may choose to pretend that it doesn't exist, and that Bush is striking at random. But that doesn't make it so. It's really a waste of bandwidth to argue with anyone who responds with such a nonsensical argument.
