Scott, I agree that Clark is coming back. I have some misgivings about his candidacy, however. I like his resume but I have yet to see the kind of steely resolve and character toughness that resonates with voters during times of crisis.

Dean is interesting because his weakness is also his strength. The combination of toughness, self-belief, willingness to lay it out there; like it or not, and intellect that Dean wears like an everyday shirt is impressive. I think the Republicans fail to see the appeal of that combination to everyday Americans looking for a real "leader" during times of crisis. I suspect that Dean can shed the anti-war image they are trying to paint him with and become an "anti-stupid-war" candidate who is willing and able to cope with real threats through the use of force.

I'm not sure that Clark can shed the "teflon," tell them what they want to hear, people-pleaser image that I believe he is beginning to develop. I cringe when he justifies some of his statements with gossip quality facts and I'm still waiting for him to reveal the kind of non-politician, steely-eyed toughness that marks the kind of man that people trust in bad times. It may be there, but if it is it is well hidden in the interviews that I've seen. It's too bad because a war-pentagon savvy general with a Clinton backed domestic team could be a strong combination in the general election.

I'm still trying to decide between those two candidates. The others are, in my view, old news. Care to share your thoughts on this?
