you miss my point, people have tons of savings but they are parked in other instruments. All the government needs to do is balance the budget, clean up the mess, and get interest rates back up to a reasonable level, then the dollar will shore up and the problem will fix itself because there is plenty of "saving" going on it is just not being deployed in savings accounts.

The way the govt spins the savings numbers they make it sound like everybody in the country spends more than they have. That is hogwash, you have to look at mutual fund inflows for example, there is plenty of available money for saving, people just don't save it. Balance the budget and all will be well.
