Taiwan independence only started to gain strength AFTER Jiang's death.

While I'll agree that the antipathy only surfaced after the decline of the Kuomintang, I personally had conversations with native Taiwanese that expressed these views in the early '60s. Moreover, they claimed that their views were widespread among the native Taiwanese. 'Tis true, I have no independent verification of their statements, but what they predicted would occur after the the rule of the '49 invaders (their perspective) has so far happened.

If you come by any evidence of Lenin's statements, particularly if they are indicative of anything more than an empty PR pronouncement, I'd be very interested.
