Chinese want bigger say in policymaking
In a survey of 11,000 people, 80% feel the government should consult the public before setting policies

BEIJING - Chinese citizens want to be heard through public opinion polls.

They believe the government must consider their views before it implements policies, a sign that more Chinese people want their country to be run in a less top-down fashion.

That is the picture that has emerged after almost 11,000 people more than 18 years old were surveyed in 31 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions in China.
