Part of what makes the rense site so yellow journalism is this: the whole "significantly less than fair market value" schtick is what p.o.'s most of this country's general populace when they learn of the 1872 mining law.

Mining is a statutory right, the ONLY ONE specifically mentioned occupation guaranteed in our legal system. As such, it only takes $100 per 20acres, plus a one time filing fee paid to the Federal government BY ANYONE, Barrick included, in order to purchase the legal mineral rights to any parcel of public land. And it only takes $100 labor per year to maintain that legal mining claim per parcel. And if a miner owns either outright or in total 10 or less parcels, then that miner can work $100 worth per year to maintain the claims and only file a proof of labor on the county level in order to keep/maintain that ownership.

So, the $10Mil for $10K, while it may have been preferential , of that I have no doubt, was not illegal under our mining laws I'm sure would be proven had Rense or any of you pontificating USA bashing men's club puffers took the time to check, instead of grabbing some half revealed fact and running it into the ground.

Later.
