I received my monthly statements on checking, savings, MM and CD accounts from my credit union today... A "quiet note" printed at the end of the statements informed us members that on a particular date in February 2004, the institution will begin a "thumbprint" program. Verbatim, including text case (upper/lower) and punctuation treatment, from the statement: "Effective February 1, 2004, ______ Inc. will implement a Thumbprinting program. This program has been implemented to help protect ALL credit union members. Please note, that no thumbprint will be provided to law enforcement authorities unless a crime has been committed with respect to the check. This program is supported by local government agencies. Thank-you!" lb
