The 80/20 rule - in principal - can be applied to almost ANYTHING in life. I believe the exact same methodology can be assumed with the markets. For example, how many times have you been sitting at your screen intraday and seen an eruptive move higher in a stock....You watch in awe as each tick carries it higher and higher. Your sat frozen, and think too yourself, I want in.... It wont let you in. It still continues to rapidly move higher and your emotions cave in and you finally pull the trigger. TYPICALLY, it continues to move a touch higher - and then stalls and to your horror reverses - and rapidly too....

Witness 80% of the move happened in 20% of the trading time...by the time most people pull the trigger - the smart money is unloading to Joe Blow for huge profits. It's simple market dynamics.

Would you consider a straight up move from 1900 to 2100 stunning? I believe there is more steam in this boat, but I have no idea where the resting point will be to allow those who are still frozen at their monitors to enter.
