What causes justify invasion? The action was carried out with the approval of the US Congress as provided for by the War Powers Act. Which makes it legal under US law.

Getting back to our little story, the men were tried IN SECRET in MILITARY courts- -in spite of the fact that they themselves were in no nation's military forces.
They were found guilty and executed. Secretly.
