Right now I don't think it makes sense. And I'm not too sure of the value of manned flights and colonies. We can do so much today with unmanned flights, so much cheaper. Technology has advanced to the point that we can do good science with no one there...witness the mars landers.

When you put a man on the moon you need a lot of logistics; air, water, food, and you have to blast it off with the crew, or send stuff via supply ships. I say we super concentrate on a new orbiter system like the shuttle and do a lot of unmanned exploration.

As always priorities are worth checking in on.
