Just got back from work and checked my mail; and what did the post man bring? A customer survey from GTE (I happen to live in a GTE Phone service area, lucky me:) ). Hmmm... Let see what they say:
.... We just want to get to know more about your telecommunications needs so we can serve you better in the future... Please Complete, Sign, and Return the enclosed Survey by September 12, 1997....
Among the pertinitent questions:
-- Do you own a personal computer?
-- If yes, are you interested in using your computer to access information via phone lines?
-- Do you have a modem?
-- If yes, are you interested in services that can allow you to use your phone and modem simultaneously with a single phone line?
-- Are you interested in interactive television and selecting programs just for you or your family?
-- If you are interested in receiving information from GTE through e-mail, please provide your e-mail ID:
Well well well, ...phone and modem simultaneously... interactive TV?
If this ain't ADSL/VDSL I don't know what they are talking about.
The GTE Roll out might be sooner and faster then we thought.
