Huh?

The unemployment rate dropped to a 10-month low of 7.3% from 7.4 % in November.

While the labour market's performance in the home stretch of 2003 was impressive, employment increased by only 271,000, or 1.7%, for the year. Not a bad result but a shadow of the 560,000 jobs posted in 2002.<?b>

In December, the manufacturing sector continued to bear the brunt of the Canadian dollar's appreciation as 4,100 jobs disappeared. For the year as a whole, 57,300 jobs were lost in this sector.

Canada job gains on best pace in 20 years with no tax cuts.
