Maybe in the computer industry they are enforced, but hardly in the area of common labor. Now and again you will hear about a big bust, as in the recent Walmart bust, but by and large, the law is either not effective or not enforced.

I do not know where you live, but the largest influx of illegals comes from(or through) Mexico. Right now, on the average of 500,000 PER YEAR. I saw an article once that claimed that the Border Patrol was CATCHING on the order of 1 million per year and returning them to Mexico.
