Alexandria, VA –– Vice President Dick Cheney will address the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene announced today. Cheney will address the opening day of the conference, the nation’s largest gathering of grassroots conservative activists, at 2 pm, January 22, 2004.
“I am delighted the vice president once again has agreed to speak at CPAC,” Keene said. “Dick Cheney is a friend of the American Conservative Union and CPAC. He always fires up the audience and gets the conference off to a great start.”
Other CPAC speakers this year include Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN), Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao, Sen. Zell Miller (D-GA), authors Ann Coulter, David Horowitz, and Bernard Goldberg, and Congressman Christopher Cox (R-CA).
Another CPAC highlight will feature a discussion between former congressman Bob Barr and former U.S. Assistant Attorney General Viet Dinh, author of the USA PATRIOT Act, on the civil liberties aspect of that controversial legislation.
“This year’s CPAC program is shaping up to be truly exceptional,” Keene said. “Vice President Cheney’s attendance continues the tradition of CPAC attracting the nation’s top conservative leaders.”
CPAC is a project of the American Conservative Union Foundation, in association with Young America's Foundation and Human Events. The conference is co-sponsored by over 70 of the nation's leading conservative organizations. For continued updates on the program or to register online, visit www.cpac.org.
"CPAC" is not a "political action committee (PAC)" as defined by federal law. The conference name and initials predate the creation of those entities and is merely coincidental. |
