Yes Hawk, I think you and I have connected on this one. Iraq is not where we should be. Instead we should concentrate on fighting terror as personified by the Al Qaeda members. We want to do away with cancelling International flights, we want to do away with raising alert levels etc. etc.

I'm standing by to hear your "Master Strategy" for accomplishing that...

Maybe create a big "Fortress Amerika"?

Shake everyone down at the borders in a mandatory inspection?

Maybe we should place surveillance devices in all US Mosques?

Deport all non-citizen muslims?

Just exactly what are your strategies for eliminating the terrorist threat?

And do you really think taking out Bin Laden will stop it? He's not the mastermind, Chinu.. Zawahiri is the brains behind Al-Qaeda and most people know that..

And kill Bin Laden and he just becomes a martyr for the next batch of Islamic militants who arise as demographic and economic conditions in the mid-east erode further..

Many of us are familiar with that scenario as it happens in many families. But do you seriously believe that this approach is also applicable to the citizens of a country who unlike growing children in a family are grown up adults.

When they are in favor of Chirac's position to delay and ignore 17 binding US resolutions to restore peace and regional stability, then yes.. I would encourage them to do so.. Please move to France..

Clinton on the other hand made sure that the war was fought overseas without signiicant impact to the US economy etc.

And what impact has Bush's strategy had on the US economy? We still have mild inflation, soaring industrial output and productivity, declining unemployment (but lacking vibrant job growth, to date)...

He did all he could to ensure that foreign terrorism did not cross into the US.

And Bush isn't doing all he can? Please tell us what Clinton did to protect the country from terrorists that Bush hasn't done (other than sit on his @ss)?

And he could do so IMO because he had the support of the world community and their intelligence agencies.

We're going to have the support of all agencies that are not actually a part of the Terrorist support network. That's a given because counter-terrorism is inherently a police and intelligence function and it normally involves organized criminal activity.

And one more point that guarantees support for the US. The US amounts to 33% of the global economy and the rest of the world will be impacted greatly should that economy be stunted.

And Bush has the ability to pressure cooperation from Europe by permitting the US dollar to decline, making foreign goods far less competitive versus US goods.
