Actually, most fans just don't really care anymore.

I did a story for a news organization here: in 1980, if NU was on TV, we would get about 900 cars thru the main intersection in town in one hour during the game, and the Malls would basically shut down, most restaurants DID.
Today, the same intersection gets 16,000 cars an hour during the game, the Malls are PACKED, nobody closes, and the town isn't a whole lot bigger than it was back then..........
