Argentina was once a highly prosperous country, up til about the 1920s. And then it declined, and the reasons for its decline don't seem to be all that clear.

Can the United States go from being an industrial giant to a nation prospering primarily on services and finance? I don't think we can continue to run huge budget deficits, funding our consumption with money borrowed from foreign sources. The dollar will drop, and so will the standard of living we have taken for granted in the United States.
