No, I know what the war was about and have written it here numerous times. It is about the United States installing a democracy in the center of the Middle East as a first step to reducing the anti-Americanism in the region. That's precisely what the war was about.

WMD gave us a convenient reason to do it. It was convenient that Saddam had refused to account for these weapons, as Bush could never have gotten support to do this without it.

Removing Saddam was the best way for us to begin the process of reducing the terrorist threat against us. It is the only long-term viable solution to the problem -- you can't fight terrorism with a traditional army and Bush knew it.

Finding a few WMD would be great, but in the long haul, the success of the policy is what matters.
