I've read the "Hitlery" nastiness countless times, starting way before the 2004 electioneering started, and though I haven't taken a survey, I'd say put Hitler comparisons and Osama-morphs -- and other calumnies -- together and add the accusations of treason that fly like confetti from the RW if Admin policy is criticized, it doesn't leave much room for sanctimony in the Gotcha game on the part of the RWers.
And it is a Gotcha game, isn't it, Laz?
Do you think RW santimony on this issue is justified? I think it's comical and a pure game of Gotcha. Well, not pure -- calculated to change the subject from Bush.
As for the claim that there was a Bush/Hitler ad at the MoveOn Website before it was removed and apologized for that said at the end "Sponsored by Moveon.org", ... I just random checked a dozen of the Moveon ads entries. At the end of all of them, this is printed:

As for poor insulted PROLIFE, I think he's a very scary, dangerous person, or would be if he had any power to be. This is my opinion based on reading his posts and having had personal interaction with him. But he hasn't killed six million people so I wouldn't be comparing him to Hitler.
A true statement of my opinion of him would be that he's one hate-spewing, very sick dude who believes in state-enforced involuntary gestation to full term of a fertilized ovum, that is, a zygote. No morning after pill if PROLIFE gets control of your uterus! Forced gestation it is for American females, under the PROLIFE regime! If I remember correctly, no exceptions for rape, even. And, I caught him in a lie he admitted he'd been disseminating for 17 years, and when I asked if he was going to stop disseminating it, he answered "What's wrong with telling a lie TO SAVE LIVES?!!!!" He's also called me and many others "murderers," among other things. This is because I believe in safe, legal early abortions. So it doesn't surprise me that people think of him as, shall we say, scary and authoritarian, but Hitler? He's not a mass murderer.
BTW, it's amusing that sandintoes complained about name-calling today. And called liberals traitors (said it was hard not to), and referred to Democrats democraps, too. I think Hitlery is one of her formulations, too. |
