Searle, <He said it, I didn't.> And i agree with it entirely. I got my teenage son (a fan of tolkien) to read the spengler article...and this is the one thing he objected to. He argued that americans do have a culture...and we are re-inventing it ever day. To him, a product of the american education system, 'culture' means nothing more than 'pop culture' - the fashion of the day so to speak. And so i guess we will all be speaking spanish in the US at some time in the future... hasta la vista, baby. John
