Iraq's Top Shi'ite Cleric Sticks to Election Demand

I'm sure Sistani knows that contrary to what the CPA (and now an arm twisted UN) says, the Iraqi bureaucrats are correct, and an election is possible - just not desired by certain powers that be. It is interesting that the Sunnis now have form their own post-Baath council, and are also calling for an election. Meanwhile, the CPA has it’s Kurdish autonomy proposal that pleases no one. Not the Kurds because it doesn’t go anywhere near far enough, and not the Turkoman because it goes too far. So, with Shia, Sunni, Kurds and Turkoman all really teed-off, Bremer must feel like he’s in a swamp full of alligators.

Feeding time for the reptiles?
