Hello Allan.. I agree with one thing pointed out by that fellow. It is unfortunate that our English translations have been tainted by the beliefs of the days they were translated. That I can prove. I do thank God however that we now live in an "age" where we can easily refer to the original Greek and have many electronic helps and studies. You still believe all men eventually make it to heaven I take it :-) I will also agree that fighting over the "nature" of the resurrection is a little ridiculous - I do however see motive behind that aim. This is what I believe the motive is. It is hoped that one can prove from scripture that men get bodies so similar to the ones they now have that it is not possible that the resurrection could have occurred in 70 AD without the whole of carnal mankind recording the event. Therefore they conclude - no solid historical record - no event. (An interesting question is why would carnal men record what convicts them as sinners? Or - how can you record something that happens in a split second especially when no one is likelu to believe you anyway? They did not believe Jesus rose - how much less multitudes.) They then in an attempt to make Jesus and Paul inerrant and change what they plainly said into an airy hit or miss verbage directed at those to whom they spoke but intended for future hearers to whom it would truly be relevant. This theory is called the UNIVERSAL VOICE of CHRIST They actually think this glorifies Jesus making His voice different than any other voice uttered on earth What is really does is makes Jesus a liar but whatever. Some do not mind saying that Both Paul and Jesus were wrong it does not seem to bother them nor do they understand the implications. The problem with the whole effort is that even if they could prove that the bodies of those who are resurrected at the second coming could be visible - it does not prove that those bodies would be seen. Why one may ask - because it is to happen in the "twinkling of an eye" 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. In a "moment" or in our language - a split second. Jesus - as a thief in the night - steals them from under the world's nose. Now I may be wrong - but I think that is the motive. It is however also interesting to note that Josephus did record that angels were reported as being seen in the air at the vengeance in 70 AD So there actually is historical evidence - but that is not the point nor does any historical account mean it actually happened nor does the lack prove it did not happen. The FACT that everything Jesus said would accompany the second coming that could never be hidden is both historically recorded and admitted by all. Only the elements that may have been utterly invisible are denied making both Christ and His apostles false prophets. Have you studied the greek words translated "everlasting punishment" in this verse: Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Odd that we can both study earnestly the word - and yet come up with completely different gods really. My God intends to eternally punish some while yours is just kidding (sorry) I think I would much rather read what you could write than what others may have written although you agree with them.
