That's a good point; if competitively priced, such an option might offer a cost-effective alternative for those investors with appreciable roll costs.

On another topic, I think the pursuit of NYSE listings by NASDAQ is a good maneuver from two perspectives: first, given the (obvious) riskless arbitrage opportunities presented upon dual listing of an issue, it will force the NYSE to overhaul the antiquated ITS system. Second, it will at long last provide a genuine scientific forum for academically - rather than anecdotally - comparing the execution prices, order handling times, and volatility characteristics of dealer markets versus auction markets.
