Barry. We should get a discussion going on the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is different and distinct from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Then you have the gifts of the Holy Spirit and then the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Is it no wonder that there is so much confusion in the body of Christ about the Holy Spirit.

I currently have a pastor who is of a denomination that does not believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and I have told him that for that reason I would not join his church and I felt that the Lord has placed me there for a specific purpose for a season.

I explained to him that I did not consider our non agreement on the Holy Spirit to be as sticking point.

He thanked me and asked me why it would not be a sticking point.

My answer to him was that something that was a sticking point would have to be something that could not be proven one way or the other. I explained to him that I saw all the gifts of the Holy Spirit operational in his congregation.
I saw interpretations, tongues, prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom etc.
so I asked him if I saw all these things operational in his congregation then how could that be a sticking point with him.

My mother is an Episcopalian. She tickles me. I asked her if she believed in tithing. She said absolutely not !
I said well mom, how much did you give to the church last year. She said the amount and it was only about 2 or 3 % of her income. Then she said but I did give them so much for the memorial fund, and so much for the new roof on the church and so much on the painting and remodling etc. It turns out her giving is much more than my own, and the Lord prospers her in all she does. She is 84 and makes all her own investment decisions and does better than I do.

Likewise with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, In most protestant congregations the gifts when operational are not recognized however that does not mean that they are not there and operational. God is doing his own thing through his body and most do not even recognize Him doing it....In Christ...gregor
