My post used that story to show that the extreme nature of much of the Muslim fanatics is a danger to the world at large and not just to the US and Israel. I've made it clear that my view is that the tyrants in the Arab world have used Israel as a point of focus to keep their power base and to keep their people in poverty.
Europe is not immune. The controversy over the head scarf and other issues are the tip of the iceberg. The desecration of Jewish cemetaries, etc., seems to thrive in an environment where many sit in Parisian cafes, snorting truffles, looking down at the Americans who largely are trying to do some good.
Yes, we can be critical, and there is much about the Bush administration which I have criticized, but until some real solutions are presented, it comes off as passing wind.
As for the story itself, I picked it up in a post yesterday and didn't realize that it was untrue. It's an example used, that's all, not cited for the truth of its contents. My point is just as valid, irrespective of the story. Just as those who are critical here use blogs and sources that are not much better than a diary, this particular source does not substitute for an idea or a well-expressed opinion.
So - if it makes you happy, disregard the article, but the point is still there. Come up with some substantive approach with real solutions instead of looking down at everything American and thinking you are above the fray. |
