Palestinian prime minister urges world leaders to halt Israel's West Bank barrier

Now there's a dog bites man headline.

How amusing that the Palestinians accuse the Israelis of racism. There is much more tolerance for Palestinians working and living in Israel than there is for jews living and working in Palestinians Authority controlled territories.

The wall may indeed make a negotiated settlement harder to achieve. I don't know. But the wall is not a political instrument; it is a defense structure, designed to protect the population from attack.

I live only a few miles from the Canadian border. If the Canadians were ever to rise up against the US, to send suicide bombers into the US, to lob mortar shells over the border into the US, you can dang well bet I would expect the government to start protecting the border in whatever way was necessary.

One of the first rules in marital counseling is that before you can improve the relationship you have to stop the parties from bashing each other. If the wall does that, perhaps it will actually wind up being a positive thing for both sides. If it doesn't, then it probably won't. We won't know for a year or two.
