zonder, you are on spot on Powell. I was disappointed that he did not have the true character to oppose Bush - his boss - on this. He knew it was wrong.

That demonstrates a lot about his true character to me.

For the Clinton critics - and Powell adorers - I would pose:

* Person 1 - Avoids the truth, and misleads, on a personal issue of an affair with an intern. Impeached for this.

* Person 2 - Avoids the clear truth, gives half truths in testimony before the UN - and ultimately decides it better to back his boss - even if the boss is wrong - than quit his job honorably - refuting the lies given. Leads to deaths of over 500 US soldiers, 9000 (at least) US wounded, and many thousands of Iraqi civilians dead.

Which is the greater moral outrage? Which has the lesser character?

My answer - of course you know - is person 2 - Gen. Powell.
