I am relatively familiar with the German/Turkish situation, but not really, as I am ignorant of its historical origins, (and frankly, a fail to understand the "logic" that led to the program), but I knew of its existence and in my days of European horsing around, I met a few Germans and Turks who expressed their opinions to me, and of course, my own observations of it.
I do not know what was the motivation for the "invitation” in the first place, but to me, it is somehow parallel to the slave situation in the south of the US. That is to say the host country brought the "problem" to its doorstep.
The Mexican/American situation is considerably different; I will explain.
I can explain from the past to the present or vice versa, I do not which one will illustrate the situation better, I will try a mix of the two:
First off... Both countries need to find a solution relatively fast. A practical one, not a political one. It has to be one under which the work opportunity in both sides is brought closer to some sort of balance.
Continuing under the present scenario is idiotic and will only make the situation worse.
The current proposal, in my eyes is a step in the right direction, but it needs the participation of Mexico to improve conditions in the south side, without that, no program or idea will work.
There are many elements that make this situation very different from the German/Turkish one, in my opinion, these are a few:
You start with a huge political shift of border lines, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and California used to be part of Mexico. A combination of an American expansionist policies and a retard as Mexican president (Generalissimo Santana), triggered the taking of the territory. Sam Houston infiltrated a bunch of "farmers" that eventually led to the "independence” of the Republic of Texas, which eventually became part of the Union... and from there, the rest is history.
What this means is that there were entire families that all of a sudden, they were in a different country, by the grace of the political (and war) power.
Then there is that common border of roughly about 3,000 kmts, as open as can be... How are you going to stop them? (yeah... I know, I have heard it all... put a fence and electrify the entire thing, build a moat, put some alligators infected with aids in the Rio Grande, post the US Army but tell them "don't shoot to kill" --just maim the bastards) --all bullshit, as they solve exactly nothing, in fact they create a bigger one.
So... do you simply assume that these people are going to evaporate ?
It is true that conditions in Mexico, should have improved, but they did not, thanks to an ever corrupt system and the attitude that "I do not give a shit” (in diplomatic terms, that translates to the "mañana" attitude), combined with an elite in power that like many elites around the globe, are simply BLIND to what the hell goes on in the background.
And... What the hell was going on in the background?
Ah well... you see for years, since 1921 (the end of the Mexican robo-lucion) to about ... somewhere in the mid 1970's (when Mexico made official that Mexico had enough oil to really f* up things --as if previous attempts had failed-- but more on that later), life was grand.
During that time, Mexico was a paradise, even if you were poor, because people were friendly, life was cheap, good, clean, un-crowded and if you really worked, not only you made a good living, but you actually could become a millionaire... --who needed to go north and deal with those pesky gringos and their border patrol eh? Piss on them because on top of that their food was worse than dog-food (an unfortunate, historical malaise of the Anglo-Saxons), wuaaakkkk I mean hot dogs and hamburgers... *vomit* -gg
But then... like a stealth monster, the population began to grow like a weed... wild weed at that. Unchecked...
The elite did not even consider the consequences of this growth, which in a few years it became explosive.
The infrastructure simply was not capable to feed, employ and in general cope with this growth. The elite in its blindness, did not even see the opportunity that if they had implemented policies that would give the growing population a chance to become "consumers" (i.e. purchasing power), instead of a problem, it would have been a great opportunity to populate vast areas of the country; it could have created employment and growth for not only the elite but the growing population.
Instead they just kept on milking the system that had been the goose of the golden eggs for some 50 something years...
By the time they opened their eyes... it was far too late. Meantime, this growing population increasingly looked to the north for the jobs that did not exist in Mexico.
At first, the US did not mind because it provided an excellent supply of cheap labor, primarily in the agricultural sector... and they did not really mind. Until it started to get a little too uncomfortable as this population not only increased in the form of NEW illegals arriving each and everyday, but now, their own families that somehow had managed to stay legally or otherwise, started growing as well....
Remember most of these guys have little use for TV's when it comes to the sex thing... -gg Slowly, in stealth mode, the problem became the US as much as Mexico's
But... as usual, politicos, with their gusto for having their heads up their butts, kept farting on their own faces, coming up with stupid policies and simply would push "laws" that every single human being with 10 cents of common sense would know they would not work. Endless amnesty programs that made absolutely no sense at all, on the contrary, they were "motivators" for even more people to make the journey.
Ah... and let's not forget the Vatican and their lieutenants, who --contrary to what their stated policies of... "Go and help and be kind to your neighbor” did absolutely nothing... --Why do I bring them cone-heads into this you ask?
Because unfortunately, they have an inordinate control over these masses of "devote" Catholics who if the pope says, NO contraceptives and NO family planning... well damned it.... they are not about to go against that.
Then add the fact that many of them are uneducated and really have no resources to draw and figure that having 10 kids is "no problem"
You have a disaster in the making... actually, it is already manufactured... but let's put a little perspective here... let's "position” ourselves outside of the proverbial box:
How do you think the regular illegal sees the present situation...? Do they see this as a problem? (Or a blessing) --particularly their leaders... (With political aspirations)
It is a gift from heaven. Why?
Because their power is growing at an exponential rate and now, they do not live in Mexico, they live in a country that actually has some serious infrastructure where if you are smart and play your cards correctly, you can win the Super Bowl of political power.
So... does it make sense for the "ultra-conservatives” (neo-Nazis is the real term -gggg) to come up with brain-farts as to "post the US Army in stead of border patrol"
**Do not forget, many members of said US Army, not only are Mexican (and some even illegals --which btw, I did not know that such was even possible--), but they are other minorities.... think about it...** Will they actually obey the order of firing, even if it is "not to kill"... I even venture to say that the officers would refuse, not to mention that the current commander of the Iraqi occupation force IS one of the "Hijos de Sanchez, himself" LOL ! I would bet with no hesitation that there would be a revolt in a portion of the US Army !...
Does Trojan horse means a computer virus or....? -ggg
As I said, a good argument for a grade C movie, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen. For suh scenario to be real, you would need a true super right wing extremist in full poer and control of the US goverment... if such were the case... then it is feasible such order would be issued, and in such case... unemployment and inflation is the least of your worries as there would be far worse things to be concerned with.
Imagine the OUTRAGE from the world community when the first shot is fired upon unarmed peasants...
The meaning of "the shit hit the fan" really takes on elephant sized proportions eh ? Have you ever seen a cow fly and shit on people? -lol
When people talk about real shifts in power equilibrium, I believe them. It is very real and unless we work TOGETHER so we can come up with viable solutions so we can all get along better... it is the only way we are going to avoid situations of endless violence such as the Arab-Israeli moronosity.
Do you think the Mexican/Hispanic population --particularly in the West-- does not feel that they are simply taking back what once it belong to them?
Think about it... The American Indian feels has been relatively successful in implementing some privileges that have fought and won from the American government. (Such as the right to have casinos where otherwise they would not exist). In my eyes, the American government has made a huge mistake in granting those "rights". In addition, I do not believe that the American Indian owns any special "right" since the tribes were nomads, had no structure of government (other than a tribe), although legally arguable, why yield an open a can of worms as they have; particularly when they lost the wars... Same as Mexico did. Same as the Arabs did.
Yet... The Americans have yielded to the Natives and the Israelis (under pressure from the Europeans and even some Americans), have yielded to the Arabs.
However, the Mexicans, I do not believe, want to "get the land back” (at least NOT politically). They realize that their government is seriously f** up and it would be a step in the wrong direction.
I believe their thrust is to simply take control (at lest in specific areas) of power by means of majority... and they are doing a superb job. But it is also my belief that they mean no harm, nor their ideas (those of the educated ones) are very different than those of the Americans --except for food, particularly hot dogs and hamburgers, that is -ggg
So.... do you still think that the American/Mexican situation is parallel to the German/Turkish one?
Oh and I forgot... A sizable number of the "would be Mexican guest worker" truly is NOT interested in living in the USA, many would love to return, if only they had a job to go to.
There is another sizable portion of the same population, who gladly would hand the keys to the rest of Mexico and make it the 51st state. --with no hesitation-- they know that they would become part of a far greater whole, in stead of continuing to be a broken and basket case country that their political leaders continue to play in the "Patriotismo" bs and somehow manage to perpetuate their pathetic inefficiencies and ridiculous stances...
Just like the Monty Python Black Knight.
So, bottom line is that unlike the German/Turk situation, the sizable Mexican population was here to begin with, it is just now that has exploded and the problem has been made worse thanks to the poor policies on BOTH sides of the border.
In my eyes, both countries have the means to solve it, but they need to work in a practical, swift, and objective way... and SOON
Anyway.... end of rant. ____________________
I’ll give you my view of a portion of US history....
But later, not now as I probably will face a few flames for what I wrote above ---- LOL! |
