Double. And safety is probably the same. And we ARE talking gov't bonds here, so those are the determinants.

And the UK pound, Canadian $, and Australian $ have been rising also.

You can get a safe 1% with about 2% inflation or a safe 2% with about 2% inflation. And both are safe. Which do you choose?
