Fangorn,

I guess I'll have to eliminate the possiblity that you were intentionally trying to be funny.

Of course, my 'idea' about keeping people in deep mine shafts was said tongue-in-cheek. I thought my reference to Dr. Strangelove and my 'lol' would be a dead give-away, but apparently you didn't get it and I now believe it is your implicit intention not to.

I certainly never said anything about six billion people being placed in mine shafts. That was your invention.

The 'mass driver' is a ridiculous concept for a weapon. Even assuming it could be assembled on the moon, even assuming it could launch a ten ton projectile and aimed accurately with enough velocity to break the Moon's orbit it could still be detected by satellite, telescope and radar (in spite of my humorous post to the contrary).

But most importantly of all it if such a projectile ever hit the the U.S. or it's allies it would of course be construed as an act of war by the party that launched the projectile. The threat of unmanned nuclear device headed to the moon launch sites and possibly a conventional war against the offending country would be more than enough to dissuade attack.

Of course, this is all contingent upon your belief that the Chinese would actually go to all this trouble to seize the Moon, use it to attack us, and then watch their Moon bases go up in smoke.

Fangorn, one last note. I will, out of courtesy, allow you the final word in this silly argument. Afterwards, I am going to insist that you stay strictly on topic. Your posts have a familiar creepy ring to them and I believe I know who you are. I won't give you the opportunity to use this board for your personal agenda against me.
