I do realize they are different issues, but you are missing the point...
...which is:
You are forgetting that the US to this day has been he economic motor of the world. The US is roughly a 260 million market. Indirectly, for good or bad, the US has been influencing strongly what happens in this economic world. So far so good.
In the near future, the US market is going to be a fraction of the global market, which will be much larger. Think of China and India alone (that is 2.3 billion potential consumers with growing purchasing power). All of a sudden the US economy begins to be less influential. Cross trading between other nations, (as illustrated by that news clip), will become important and hence the influence the US may (or not) exercise on other markets/areas/nations will be diminished.
So the choices for action on issues, (such as the immigration with Mexico), will be reduced. Unless of course, you are part of the solution.
Therefore...
If you implement (just to think of one idea), or assist in the implementation of trade/export zones (with Mexico) to trade with ---> not only China, but the rest of the world, then who knows, the US may even be able to retain certain standards of living as before... the point is in stead of being a hard head and try to win-all at all costs... perhaps it is time to think creatively and looking at problems from a more global perspective...
Instead of...
Just attempting to isolate the US and preserve things that are not preserve-able any more...
Just a thought... Cisco.
Remember, you can help or you can continue to fight the illegal immigrants.
