I have little doubt that the good work of Dr. Yi Guan is of the highest standard and correct in it's analysis.

My concern is the solution to the problem. Perhaps breeding SARS resistant civets and/or better living conditions for captured and bred civets would give better results.

It's not as if it's just China has the potential for some major bio hazards around the corner. Europe and the USA spring to mind (though with different problems) as well. Link thanks to THC of SI

Rather then fight nature with "total solutions" like finding a cure for SARS, stop it from becoming a problem in the first place. Go with the flow a little.
