In earlier years this country aggressively pursued an English mandate. The Americanizion of previous generations was not an accident. More people in the US have a German heritage than English and thousands of German textbooks were literally burned in the 19th century. I'm not advocating that English only be prosecuted to that degree, but German Americans did not have German only TV stations. When we were kids, they taught something in school called the "Melting Pot." You can bet your ass that American kids today have never even heard the term. The mantra today is "diversity." * * *
