Orbit International's Power Unit Segment Receives over $500,000 in New Orders Wednesday January 14, 8:15 am ET
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2004--Orbit International Corp. (NASDAQ:ORBT - News) today announced that the commercial division of its Power Units Segment, Behlman Electronics, Inc., ("Behlman") has received two new orders totaling over $500,000.
Deliveries under these contracts are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2004 and continue through the third quarter of 2004. The first order, totaling $435,000, is for a ruggedized Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for use on board ships.
The unit's unique packaging enables Behlman to achieve the shortest chassis depth in the industry, which the Company believes provides it with a distinct competitive advantage for shipboard applications.
Furthermore, this UPS order is for one U.S. Navy LHD WASP class ship and successful installation of the unit could lead to further applications in the Navy's fleet.
In addition, the Company reported that Behlman's commercial division received an order for $75,000 for a frequency converter for a mobile avionics test station.
The unit, which is supplied by the U.S. Navy, is for the Australian Air Force and is also used by the U.S. Marine Corp. Behlman successfully worked with the customer to ensure that its unit would be a form, fit and function replacement for the current unit.
There are currently over 100 systems in the field and new systems continue to be built which the Company believes provides a significant business opportunity for the future.
Dennis Sunshine, President and CEO of Orbit, commented, "Behlman's commercial division continues to see strong demand for its products for niche power applications.
As a result of this demand, the bookings from Behlman's commercial division are up significantly from a year ago and is now complementing the increased business realized from its custom division. Furthermore, we are greatly encouraged by the significant sales growth opportunities in the commercial market." |
