" Robert Gruder, Alydaar's CEO, added, ``This alliance provides one-stop shopping for a complete Year 2000 solution. Utilizing the joint resources of Alydaar and Compuware, customers can fix and test applications with ease. We believe these products, used concurrently, could possibly add an additional billion lines of code to our current contracts." biz.yahoo.com
** NOTE ** he didn't say "add a billion lines", he said "AN ADDITIONAL" billion lines.
therefore, it would not be totally out of line to say that they have currently approx. 1 billion lines in their pipeline.
Anyone who has followed this stock would know that one of ALYD's biggest deals is the one they are negotiating with DuPont. It was stated that DuPont has approx. 1 billion lines of code and CSC (Computer Science Corp.) was consulting them. It is common knowledge that CSC uses Peritus. It was also stated that ALYD should get the "lion's share" of the DuPont code.
Well, I estimate the Lion's share to be at least 50% or greater. If we take that 50% figure we get 500 million lines of code that must be converted for DuPont alone.
It is also common knowledge that ALYD has another one or two contracts that are for 100 million lines. If you ask Jeff Mitchell or others on this thread who know about this company, they can confirm this. I will hit the wires today and try to find the specific articles if need be.
From here we see that ALYD has about 16 contracts left out of the 19 and M.D., 3M, Nabisco, Aer Lingus are amongst them.
M.D. is a huge defense contractor and I don't think their problem consists of only a couple million lines. 3M is also huge and they should have a substantial amount of code.
If you put all these factors together we see that saying ALYD has about 1 billion lines of code in the pipeline for current project would be reasonable.
NOW TO THE MATH. ===============
It was reported on this thread that ALYD has 22 teams of 5 people that can have a capacity to produce 220 million lines per year.
It should also be noted that these numbers where given by Jeff Mitchell who has shown to have correct information in the past.
At current capacity 220 million lines, ALYD could only do 550 million lines by Jan. 1, 2000. (220 x 2.5 years)
Therefore, it is evident that ALYD must more than double their resources ASAP just to be able to meet the need for current contracts. (1 billion lines for current projects est.)
It is not rocket science, you just have to be able to step back and take a look through all the hype that people like you would throw at us.
Fundamentals are going to matter and I am interested in getting some information on how ALYD is going to handle this.
I don't care if I own the stock or not. (and I do)
I see that these are valid questions and points that should be talked about. |
