Well, I am sure I will get murdered over this, but Brett is a big boy, and big boys, when they grow up and grow old(er), they also realize their parents are also getting even older, and yes, 59 is not 'old'.
I'll buy SOME of the emotion flag, but not all of it, or even most of it. I watched my father die right in front of me when I was 8, it hurts, 37 years later I still miss him, I always will, but you just can't dwell on it, and the press should be shot for continuosly throwing that in our faces for the last 4 weeks. My mother is 83, she's not in the greatest health, I am doing what I can, I am concerned, but I am also not detached from the situation, one day she will die, but who is to say I will outlive her ?
I can't even count how many friends I had that have died in the last 10-15-20 years, there has been a lot (15-20), it hurts, but you can't give up life, and in that respect, I would have expected Brett to go out and play his game.
His father's death may have elevated his game, it may have inspired his team (and it is HIS team) to execute better, so be it, but I think the press has really spun this issue to death (no pun intended).
I am NOT saying anything bad about Brett or the Packers, I watched Ahman Green play here in Jr. High, High School, and College, I have nothing bad to say about him, either, but I sure am tired about CONSTANTLY hearing about the emotions outside of football, and if that makes me an a**hole, I guess I am one.
And if you think Brett has to deal with this so much, can you even fathom Dale Earnhardt Jr. ???????????????????? |
