And a good one it is.

The only thing I disagree with you is the suggestion that we cared much about ensuring that the UN remained viable as an international organization. Though we tried, our goals at the end of the day could not be reconciled with those of the permanent members of the Security Council, save those of the UK, of course, and we did what we had to do, as the cliche states.

Though our actions definitely were unpopular at the UN, I think history will judge us kindly on the point.
