Laz suspects me of living in Ohio
You moved? To where? Iowa? :-)

I didn't realize they were still in the electoral process".
They show up reliably on every ballot in CA.

Can you vote for them if you want to?
They're on the ballot. Believe it or not, most US elections are honest. If they got majorities, they'd be elected.

Fact is, occasionally they DO get majorities. Greens, Libertarians, and independents have all won elections and taken office.

Why don't we ever hear about what their leaders/representatives have to say?
Because they mostly win at local levels. You have any idea how many assemblymen, county supervisors, state assemblymen and state senator we have in this country?

You've probably heard of Jesse Ventura, former governor of Minnesota. Independent.

And
Prior candidates like Goldwater, Brown, Nader, Buchanan, Wallace
These guys were well off the mainstream. Goldwater was considered far right. Brown? Which one? "Moonbeam", former guv of CA? He actually won. Nader? Green, far left. Buchanan? Religious right, has run for the Presidency with no hope of winning. Wallace was a segregationist Democrat who tried to get the Presidential nomination.
