Its not "forgoing stem cell research". Its forging US federal government funded research on new strains of embryonic stem cells. I don't consider that extreme and extreme or not it is not "forgoing stem cell research. You can have mon government funded research, research funded by state or foreign governments, research on non-embryonic stem cells, and research on pre-existing strains of stem cells.
