the recession ended in 01, according to the BLS. Since that time, the government has been claiming that jobs were a lagging indicator. I work with companies that are selling more than they have ever sold and I know they have no plans to hire people in the US (in fact they are cutting here rather severely), so that assertion (jobs lagging) is false.
