This is what you get when a Time's "hard Left" critic reviews the Frum/Perle book. she is really "frothing at the mouth."

You know, that review may have been a bit emotional, but she has a point.

...make for a strident, sophistical book, one unlikely to persuade anyone who doesn't already share the authors' super-hawkish views and self-righteous braggadocio.

Nadine and I recently had a colloquy that was very useful to me. She explained some things without the 'tude that so often passes for discourse around here. The pieces that were posted yesterday, the ones from the liberal hawks, were likewise useful because they made their points with cogent arguments and a tone that was respectful to the reader. I don't know if the author is right about the tone of the book she reviewed or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if she were since there's so little else available. You don't persuade people with pep rallies and circle jerks. You persuade them by expressing yourself in their language, treating them with respect, and offering logical and supportable arguments. When folks approach communications the way she says the authors do, I figure that they don't really care about persuading anyone, they're just strutting their stuff.
