ASML to be profitable in every quarter of 2004 Thursday January 15, 4:51 am ET
VELDHOVEN, Netherlands, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Dutch chip equipment maker ASML (Amsterdam:ASML.AS - News) said on Thursday it would be profitable in every quarter of this year. "Given the prospects of a market recovery, yes, we will be profitable every quarter this year," CEO Doug Dunn told a news conference. Dunn, who will retire by the end of 2004, also said ASML's order backlog would rise sequentially in the first quarter and it would achieve a gross margin of 35 percent some time this year. "In dollar terms (the backlog in Q1) will not be lower than today, which is uncommon, because Q1 is usually a down quarter," he said. |
