Perception becomes reality. Interesting how last night's rather positive take on INTC's earnings has evolved this morning into this (from Reuters):

"But dealers said technology stocks were likely to fall at the open after bellwether Intel failed to meet investor's lofty expectations and gave a weak outlook.

">>If companies don't meet or beat these expectations, stocks are going to fall<<, said Steve Previs..."

Of course, INTC beat expectations, and the first quarter is always down from the fourth. I will leave the debate about valuations for another time, as well as that about market technicals. I just find it interesting how the reporting takes its cue from the stock price--and afterhours moves at that.

Today is full of cross-currents: INTC/IBM, INTC capex budget/ TER's 45% order growth, upgrades of the communications chipmakers!
