To say that the drop in the dollar does not lower the purchasing power of the dollar outside the US would be, simply put, ridiculous. In the short term, foreign suppliers sometimes swallow the difference and wipe out their own profit margins. In the long term, there is no escape from reality. You can already see reality coming into commodity prices.
